I Remember Now...
I dreamed last night about being in prison again. This time it
was very realistic, and coherent (the worst kind, because I really believe I
am in prison again). What was really interesting about this dream though was
when another inmate asked me why I was there I told him, "To
remember." And while I did not realize I was dreaming when I said it, I
did somehow understand that that was the true reason for my being there. It
didn't make it any less pleasant.
I remembered the devastating
feeling of being powerless while I was incarcerated. That was the worst
feeling, and to this day is the worst feeling I have ever felt. It is the
same feeling a victim feels, except it permeates your existence day in and
day out, for months, and years. That is why I know well why it is wrong to
inflict ones will on another. Crime, in this sense (inflicting your will on
another person), is a horrendous tragedy, and is terribly wrong. Sending
someone to prison as punishment is wrong in the exact same sense and for the
exact same reason. Revenge (call it punishment if you like) is not the
answer, it only propagates the problem, and justifies the criminals behavior.
We know prison does not deter criminal behavior at all (Studies show
constantly that if you take a group of people who commit any given crime,
send them to prison, then compare their recidivism rate to a similar group
that did not go to prison, the group that did not go to prison always has
significantly lower recidivism For example...).
A big part of the reason
people sent to prison re-offend is because the need to take control back is
overwhelming after they get out. And instead of giving them the chance to
take power back, we put them on parole, and probation, essentially further
inflicting the will of small minded community supervision officials over the
x-convict. Another interesting statistic is that people who are released from
prison without parole or probation recidivate less than those on parole or
probation. The excuse for this fact is that the ones on parole and probation
are just more likely to get caught, but they both commit more crimes at the
same rate. Attempts to confirm this rational however have consistently
failed.
And I think education, which
has been shown consistently to dramatically reduce recidivism, works by
giving the x-convict the ability to take control back of their lives without
crime, which without education is the only thing they know.
Religion is the cause of all evil.
There is no god.

Ouch!

Well, I have been busy. The
weekend before last I was in Ft. Lauderdale Florida visiting my "Doctor
Friend" (as my family calls him) who was there taking a class toward his
second doctorate. It was just a short trip, mostly to visit, and sort of a
mini-vacation. I tried to make a dive trip out of it, but the ocean was too
choppy and I was completely exhausted before I even got past the surf, much
less out to the reef. It was still fun though.
Then, just last weekend I
had my "Retired-Teacher Friend" from Concord California visiting
for the weekend. I'm not sure if he enjoyed his visit, he doesn't care for
cats very much and I have two. We drove down to Minneapolis and saw the Mall
of America and rode some of the rides. That was fun.
Spring semester is quickly
coming to an end. This summer I am taking Chemistry 122 with the associated
Lab, so I'll have to cut back my work hours to just 35 a week and that is a
stretch.
Today I had a dental
appointment. It seems the composite filling I had put in last September
cracked, so they replaced it for no charge. Other than that it seems my teeth
are in good shape.
Oh, I almost forgot; while I
was in Florida I injured my toe trying to play basketball with a black kid (I
let him win). I knew I was going to loose the nail, but I guess I didn't want
to wait for it to come off so when I got home a few days later I stubbed it
on the stairs coming into my apartment and ripped it off (yes, ouch!). It
didn't come all the way off, so I went to the hospital the next day and they
took it the rest of the way off and gave me a prescription for penicillin (it
was a little infected). It feels a lot better now, but looks terrible! Posted

about fifty years ago that that is reduced into two factors: genetic makeup
and enivironment stimuli. But I guess, you have not been keeping up a science

sodomy. What is the deal here? If you think it so interesting go get your own
ass fucked or whatever. Get over it, men have been doing this for thousands
of years and now with mass pornography, many young women are getting there
asses fucked.

freedom again." - Why? Does it make you feel better about yourself? I
mean, does putting Joe down really feal good to you because it means that you
are not so bad? We see this pattern over and over again, losers come on to
put Joe down for no apparent reason other than to crutch their own
insecurites. It is a pretty pathetic symtom of our sick society.

Again, considering Joe's background or maybe because he
had all those years to educate himself, I am impressed with the depth of his
self-analysis and perception. This post is interesting becuase the "sex
offender" topic is absent per se. I am going to speculate that in
prison, Joe is no longer a "Sex Offender," just another immate so
the issue only arises when he is free.
